What is a Spray Tan?Spray tanning involves applying an active ingredient, dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, to your skin using a specialist low pressure spraying machine. DHA is a colorless sugar. It interacts with the proteins and amino acids in the outer layer of your skin to produce a golden brown color. Most spray tans contain an instant cosmetic bronzer that gives you a color guide and instant color when you are first sprayed. These instant cosmetic bronzers will wash away after your first shower and have no impact on the end result for your tan. It’s not the amount of cosmetic bronzers that make the individual solutions darker from one another, it’s the amount of DHA in the solution that creates varying results.
-
Will it make me orange? No! We use specific DHA percentage dependent upon your skin tone that will bring out that beautiful bronze tone you desire. As long you follow the pre and post care below, you will be very happy with your outcome!
-
How do I book my spray tan?You can book right on our website under the schedule tab, or on our Local B Studio app! If you do not see an appointment that matches your event needs, call us and request an appointment time! We have few appointment slots throughout the week that are online, but we take many requests!
-
How do I prepare for my spray tan?The best way to prepare is to follow the instructions below:
-
What do I wear during my tan?Bring loose-fitting clothes to change into immediately after your spray tan. No denim, no yoga pants, no tight bras or underwear- Ideally, bring flip flops too During your tan- many people choose to go nude or topless. Whatever you are comfortable with is fine. If you must wear one, we recommend a strapless bra or bandeau. A dark bathing suit is also a good choice. We offer disposable thongs, bras, or sticky nipple covers as an add on item for $1. Men should wear a small pair of boxers or briefs.
-
What is the post spray tan care? For the best results, follow the post care advice:
-
Is spray tanning safe?Absolutely! Spray tanning is a much safer option to achieve a natural-looking glow. Laying out in the sun can only be harmful. The Skin Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society both recommend spray tanning as the safer alternative to sun tanning.
-
Can I get a tan while I'm "tan?"Yes but don't forget your SPF. Spray tanning does not offer any UV protection.
-
What is the difference between a regular BRONZE spray tan and a rapid spray?Rapid tans provide the same lasting tan as expected from a traditional spray tan, but with the added convenience of being able to be rinsed off hours earlier. It will have no effect on the bronzed look you would like to achieve, Rather than having to wait 8, 12, or more hours, you are able to shower anywhere from 1-4 hours.
-
What are the post moisturizing spray and finishing powder? You can add either one or both to your spray tan to enhance your experience, as well as make it last longer. The post moisturizing spray immediately enhances your skin’s color results and re-hydrates skin., helping to lock in the DHA. The finishing powder is a talc free powder designed to be used after a spray tan to help set the color and prevent it from transferring onto clothing or other surfaces by creating a protective barrier over the skin. In addition to helping to set the color and prevent transfer, tan setting powders can also help to reduce any shine or stickiness that may occur after a spray tan.
-
How long will my spray tan last?It all depends on how well you follow your post tan instructions! They can last up to a week,
-
When should I get a spray tan before an event? For your best BRONZED looked, you should tan 2-3 days before your event.
-
How long is an appointment? An appointment can be anywhere from 5-25 minutes depending on the person and what they are looking for.
-
What is the cancellation policy? You may cancel your appointment up to one hour before your tanning session is scheduled. If you cancel within the one hour time, there will be a $10 cancellation fee. If you do not show up to your scheduled appointment, you will be charged a $15 no show fee.
